State of emergency 17. Architecture Biennale, talking about sustainability
At the Biennale the practice of sustainability is analyzed according to several parameters, starting from concrete example to show possible, feasible models.
Meetings on Architecture is the program of meetings curated by Hashim Sarkis that ‘expands’ the boundaries of the 17th Architecture Biennale. We were inspired in particular by one of the November events (Dimensions of sustainability: ecology, technology and culture, November 14-15, Teatro Piccolo Arsenale and in streaming) to trace a thematic tour on Sustainability.
The practice of sustainability is analyzed according to several parameters, starting from concrete example to show possible, feasible models. As we learned over the last few weeks after Cop-26, the message is as clear as it is final: there is no time left, we must act now. Architecture has been working on solution for years at this point, but now that we are in an emergency situation, it’s time for it to shine. Several projects and meaningful courses of action are offered, even if not all are tailored to specific situations, at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, together with analyses on sustainability and its implication on structures, territories, societies, and public policy. We placed in higher regard female voices, although naturally the goal is a common one: the safeguard of our common space, planet Earth.
